Reviews

Thoroughly Modern Millie

"There are impressive voices in the cast, among them Mr. Spangler's. His ballad 'What Do I Need With Love?' makes it clear why Jimmy is the real romantic lead."

- Anita Gates, The New York Times

"Nick Spangler is a handsome and rich voiced juvenile, the real love of Millie's life, and he dances up a storm, too!"

- Lee Davis, The Southampton Press

"Playing opposite the powerful character of Millie is Jimmy Smith, portrayed by Nick Spangler, who the audience first glimpses as the devil-may-care playboy enjoying his youth and, uh, virility. We instantly take a liking to Jimmy's boyish good looks and easy stage presence, but we fall in love with Jimmy/Nick once he opens his mouth to sing. Spangler's seamless vocal range adds to Jimmy's overall smoothness and when it coems time to spread his arms and belt to the rafters, Spangler definitely delivers."

- Genevieve Salamone and Jennifer C. Roller, South Shore Press

The Fantasticks

"Mr. Spangler is a thrillingly pure-voiced romantic interest with a boyish face to match."

- Anita Gates, The New York Times

"Nick Spangler is in the role of Matt and, according to the playbill, is still studying at NYU. This young man has a voice that makes it worth seeing this show just for that pleasure alone. It is melodic and lyrical with a pure resonant tone. When you add to this that he is tall and handsome, with a stage presence that belies his youth, it seems a fair bet that this is a name and a voice that we are going to hear about much more. If he had a CD out I would rush to buy it!"

- Roy Bradbrook, DansPapers.com

"Matt is played by Nick Spangler and his smitten love and devotion ring true. His voice is beautiful and his young and tender heart and light are what we and the other characters recognize and hope to preserve."

- Linda Leuzzi, The Long Island Advance

"Nick Spangler as Matt is charming and idealistic, reciting pretty poetry to his forbidden love, Luisa, while dreaming of the world beyond his own backyard. Spangler’s boyish good looks will make the females giggle and sit up a bit straighter, and his voice is clear and strong, adding depth to his seemingly immature character."

- Genevieve Salamone and Jennifer Roller, South Shore Press

"The young lovers—Nick Spangler as Matt and Juliana Ashley Hansen as Louisa—are sweet and irresistible. Not only are they handsome, beautiful, and graceful, they have pure and soaring voices that not only sing but embrace the gorgeous melodies Harvey Schmidt has handed them. A better cast than this is hard to imagine."

- Lee Davis, The Southampton Press

Saved By The Bell: the musical!

"RASH Theatre Company has put together a shockingly good homage to everybody’s favorite teen show from the Eighties. The costumes were perfect. There was no set, but who cares. The performances (impersonations) were excellent. Nick Spangler as Zack was a dead ringer for Mark Paul Gosselaar in the TV show, it was almost scary."
